So it’s finally here. After 32 days, 63 games in Russia, the World Cup final between France and Croatia takes place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
France has won all their games within the 90 minutes except for a dull 0-0 draw with Denmark in their final group game, where they were already guaranteed as winners. They then went on to beat Argentina, Uruguay, and Belgium to reach their first final since 2006.
Croatia, on the other hand, has had a far rockier road to the final since finishing Group D with a 100 percent record. They were taken to penalties by Denmark and Russia before needing an extra-time winner to beat England.
FULL TIME: France 4-2 Croatia
It was a World Cup final full of controversy, and you imagine that will be dissected, particularly in Croatia for years to come. Mandzukic OG, Perisic drive, Griezmann penalty, Pogba, Mbappe and Mandzukic benefiting from a Lloris error.
It may not have been pretty, but in years to come, we won’t remember the loser, the controversy, or the manner in which France won. Only that they won. France adds another star to their shirt and Didier Deschamps becomes just the third manager to ever win the World Cup as a player and manager.

Vrsaljko picks up a yellow card, as Griezmann goes on a marauding run down the touchline. France now has a free kick, and they look to have their second World Cup wrapped up.

France isn’t even attempting to play it around Croatia. They just give the ball back and get back into their formation. Five added minutes for Croatia to perform a miracle

Time looks to be running out for Croatia. If they are going to have any chance they need to score now. But that’s easier said than done as substitute Fekir draws a foul from Rakitic after some fancy footwork
Here’s a closer look at that Hugo Lloris howler…
Giroud OFF Fekir ON for France
Strinic OFF, Pjaca ON for Croatia

Rakitic with a drive that’s inches away from the post! Time is running out for Croatia, but their belief looks unshakeable

After his error, Lloris looks a bit shaky. He left Lovren to defend a cross after coming out too early, and despite his experience, looks far from convincing
Some time ago – it feels like about a month – we had some pitch invaders…Lovren wasn’t a fan of them.
A goal, finally, that doesn’t come from controversy or a set piece.
And that’s how France won the FIFA World Cup 2018!!!
