As we enter in the year 2018, let’s not forget that 2017 has been a great year for Pakistan sports. Saying that Pakistan’s sports history is full of miracles wouldn’t be wrong. Because our sports is very unpredictable – when we expect our sports teams to do well, they usually disappoint us. Other times, they give excellent performance and make us speechless.

Fortunately, 2017 was a great year for Pakistan’s sports, especially cricket. From winning the Champions Trophy to the retirement of Misbah and Younis, Pakistan cricket team had mesmerizing moments past year. I have come up with all the best sporting moments which happened in the year 2017. Let’s have a look!

Cricket Came Home in PSL Final

First of all, cricket came home after 8 years. Yes, Pakistani cricket lovers literally experienced the revival of cricket in the country. Pakistan Super League season 2 brought several international stars to the homeland.

Cricket Series With WI

This was the last series of our two legendary cricketers Younis and Misbah and they nailed it. It was thrilling to watch the series. In fact, a series win which Pakistanis have longed for since the inception of cricket in the country.

MisYou Retirement

Both Misbah and Younis played a major role in many achievements of the Pakistan cricket team. Whether it’s Youni’s captaincy in 2009 T20 World Cup or Misbah’s support in 2010 spot-fixing scandal. Both of them never left side if the team. The void left by the legends’ retirements will be hard to fill.

Champions Trophy Win

After winning in the opening game from forever-rival India, Pakistan cricket team never looked back. We won against South Africa by a big margin and star-studded Sri Lanka. Also, the host England tamed and we got the prestigious Champions Trophy title after beating India in the finals. What a time to be alive it was!

World XI, Sri Lanka Tours

Thanks to ICC’s efforts to bring back cricket in Pakistan, some big names agreed to visit the country for a three-match T20I series. Later, Sri Lankan team also landed in Lahore to play the final T20I of its recent series against Pakistan. The crowd’s passion, the hospitality of Lahoris, welcoming messages, and the thrilling encounters proved to be a great advertisement for peaceful cricket in Pakistan.

Asian Indoor Games

Pakistan bagged 21 medals in Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games 2017, including 2 gold and three silver medals.

Hassan Ali & Muhammad Hafeez Rise to No. 1

2017 was one of the best cricket years for Hasan Ali and more are yet to come, hopefully. His aggressive bowling has helped Pakistan win multiple series, especially the Champions Trophy 2017; the impressive numbers have earned him the number 1 spot in ODI bowler’s ranking He’s also the leading wicket-taker in 2017.

Similalry, Mohammad Hafeez regained his number one ranking in ODI all-rounders after making a comeback into the team as an all-rounder.
